Martin Lemelman: Hi, my name is Martin Lemelman. My name means, "lemel" in German, I believe means sheep, and "man" means man. So I don't know if my ancestors were shepherds, but that would be nice sitting in a field and tending some sheep.

My first name was kind of interesting because my parents were refugees after World War II, and when I was born in America, my mother didn't know what English name she should give me, and so actually a nurse in the hospital gave her some choices. She wanted to name me after my grandmother, Malke, which means Queen in Yiddish, and she wanted an M name, and so it was either Martin or Marvin, the nurse said, and so she kind of picked Martin. So that's how my first name came to be, and I'm very happy it is. I don't have any middle name and everybody else does, but I feel a little lonely about that, but that's okay.
