Susan Guevara: Hi, my name is Susan Guevara. When I was born my sister was five years old, and our parents decided they'd let her name me. I guess since I was pretty small she named me after the smallest friend she had. She named me after her doll, Susan. My middle name is Marie, after my grandma, Mary, Maria. My last name is pronounced the same way you pronounce Che Guevara's last name, Guevara. Guevara. You kind of roll the R and pretend there's a D next to it. Guevara. When I was little and my mom was mad at me, she'd call me Susie Mary. "Susie Mary, you come here right now." When she was happy with me, she would say my name in a singsong voice and call me Susana Maria. "Susana Maria."

And when she was cuddling me in her lap, which she would do often, she would call me her strawberry shortcake. "You're my very own strawberry shortcake. I could just eat you up." My poppy would call me pumpkin. "Hi pumpkin. What'd you do today?" But I am not a shortcake or a pumpkin. I am a Susan, Susan Marie Guevara.
