Book Description
for When Lulu Went to the Zoo by Andy Ellis
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
Lulu is an animal rights activist, even if it’s not in her vocabulary yet. Most children love the zoo, but Lulu just feels sad for animals that are con fined in small cages and decides something must be done. She sneaks the animals back to her house. Life outside of small cages is good, but there’s just not enough room in the bathtub when a polar bear wants to play in the bubbles, too. Luckily, the zookeepers listen to her idea for Lululand—a place where animals live and play in natural habitats with “oodles of space.” lvb
