Ninnyhammer might be known as the village simpleton, but Peter knows there's more to him than that. One day he fishes a strange stick out of the stream and discovers that it is a magic wand. The magician is so grateful that he helps Peter's family with their struggling farm, making the cows give twice as much milk. Now Peter wants to help his friend. Can it be right that Ninnyhammer has to sleep in a hole with fox cubs? And can Peter persuade his father to give him a home?
