Lily loves to paint. She also loves school until she experiences difficulty reading. She tries to come up with excuses for why she should stay home or shouldn’t have to read at school. She finally confides to her mother that she will not be able to read her assigned page on Parent Day. Her mother then explains that she, too, had difficulty learning to read when she was young. With the help and support of her mother, teacher, and a reading buddy at school, Lily overcomes her difficulties and gains the confidence to succeed.
