George Ancona first visited Cuba in 1957. He recently returned, curious about how the country has changed since then and about how children in contemporary Cuba live. With his trademark photodocumentary style, Ancona combines crisp color photographs of Cuban children and their families and friends with an inviting narrative that describes life at school, at home, and at play. Though clearly not a wealthy country by Western standards, Ancona shows that both the nation and individual families treasure their children.
